Thank you for your interest in PROJECT 5000, which is part of our Ministry of Care.

Holy Redeemer has a generous history and reputation among the local community for sharing love and concern for the needy through PROJECT 5000 food boxes.

Following are helpful hints and suggestions, or click on your choice from the list below to go to your topic of special interest:

Project 5000 provides emergency food stuffs to last a family of four (4) for two (2) days.
Appropriate boxes and specific list of foods needed are positioned near the Church exits or at the Pastoral Center.

Helpful Hints.

1) Put your box in a place where you will see it often. It will serve as a reminder of your participation in PROJECT 5000 and will help you to fill it more quickly.
2) Variety in the canned items will be helpful. Rather than putting two (2) cans of corn, etc.-it would be better to have different items.
3) Typical vegetable items may include beans, peas, corn, carrots, etc.
4) Fruits may include peaches, pears, pineapple, fruit cocktail, etc.
5) Meats may be ham, Spam, corned beef hash, etc.
6) Please avoid odd or exotic type foods such as artichokes or spiced apples.

Suggestions.

1) Set your own pace in filling the box. Most families will find buying one or more items each week will be easy and will keep the project constantly before them. Others on fixed or small incomes may be able to purchase an item only occasionally or may wish to join with another person in filling a box. It is up to you how fast you fill your box. It will be needed and welcome whenever you fill it.
2) Make this project a family-centered project in your home. Encourage all members of the family to participate by helping in the purchase of items and in contributing toward the cost of the items. Children and youth can participate by giving an amount of their allowance or spending money.
3) Allow your participation in this project to be a spiritual growth experience. Pray for those who will receive your box of food. In you blessings before your meals pray for those who do not have enough food around the world.

Submitting a Full Box.
When your box is filled, please return it to the Parish Office anytime during the week from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Sunday they may be dropped off at the Social Hall. Please do not seal or tape the box when you return it.
We encourage you to take another box home when you return your filled box and begin again. You will find a real sense of joy in knowing you are helping others in a tangible way.
We will be glad to give you a receipt for the estimated value of the food in your box for income tax purposes. Click here to access a pintable form. Return the form with the completed box. If you are a registered parishioner, please use the family name-your envelope ID# would also be helpful. If you are not registered, you must have this receipt validated at the Parish Office-you may then keep it for your records.
